Description

Music for Children – A Progressive Journey in Indian & Western Music

At Music for Children Level 10, students learn songs in three different genres—Jazz, Pop, and Rock—in English and Hindi. The new international language, Chinese, is introduced at this level through a sight-singing exercise. Students learn to identify the musical differences in songs from Jazz, Pop, and Rock by discussing the songs learned in this course. The natural minor scale is thoroughly learned, as are the notes in them, through the practice of numerous Alankar and solfege patterns in this scale. The harmonic and melodic minor scales are also taught here.

Songs are now sight-read by students. The musical element of texture is introduced at this level. Students play pieces of music that are monophonic, homophonic, and polyphonic. Then, through discussion and explanation, they are taught what these are. The key signatures of C, F, G, Bb, D, and Eb major are thoroughly revised. The song Singing in the Rain connects their feelings to the monsoon season, We Are the World sets in them the concept that the whole world is inside them, and Meri Laundry exposes them to the vocal technique Grunge. This Music for Children course fosters musical awareness and technical growth while making learning enjoyable.
