Grade 8 Music Course (Term 1) – Exploring Love, Culture & Universal Music

In Grade 8 Music Course (Term 1), themes of love, family are spoken about through the songs in this course. 3 musical genres – Indian Carnatic classical, Hindustani Classical, and Indian Folk music are taught here. Through the song Pasoori, which is a hit international composition by Pakistani Artists, students see how universal music can be. They hear and understand how different musical instrument timbres can be seamlessly infused to make such a rich composition. Rise, the inspirational song by Andra Day, elevates the students’ singing prowess in various aspects. Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish is a song in the Pop genre. Sight singing and reading of pieces in E major scale are done, as are complex alankars taught.
