About Course
Grade 2 Music Course (Term 3) – Exploring Raga, Vibrato & Festivals
At the Grade 2 Music Course (Term 3), Students learn how to sing a Tarana, a type of song in the Hindustani Classical Music Genre. They learn what a Raga is through the Pentatonic scale used in this song. They become confident to do sight singing in F major scale by the end of this term. Singing the song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious challenges them to pronounce and hold their breath through a really big word. They vary tempo through the Name game warmup.
They are exposed to the Holi festival through a song. Students learn how to hold a microphone correctly through a video lesson and then experiment with this in turns at school. They learn how to experiment with combinations of notes, taking just 3 notes at a time – they understand that endless possibilities of note combinations exist. They learn what a vibrato is.
