About Course
Grade 8 Music Course (Term 3) – Explore Diverse Genres & Expand Vocal Skills
At Grade 8 Music Course (Term 3), students listen to Bossa Nova style from South America, Western Classical Music, and Indian Film song genres. They understand and appreciate the wide variety of music there is in the world, from which they can pick and choose intelligently to make their own, new beautiful music. They learn 3 songs that help them connect to their deepest self and their feelings. Ideal posture is taught.
Vocally, they cover the techniques of head voice expansion, pentatonic-based warmups and techniques of using staccato singing in a medium to high range of pitches. Sight singing of exercises, short pieces, and songs in Db Major scale is done. The circle of fifths is explained here. Alankars are now considerably difficult and need time and practice. Students write the second stanza 2 of their song in this course.
