Hindustani Vocals Beginner (Level 4)
About Course
Hindustani Vocal Beginner – Level 4 | Explore Raag Durga & Malkauns Through Aalap, Bandish, and Taan
In Hindustani Vocals Beginner Level 4, students delve into the beautiful raagas Durga and Malkauns. They begin by listening to and identifying the unique melodic structure of each raag, gaining a solid understanding of their notes and mood. Students are guided in creating small aalaps (melodic improvisations) to build familiarity and expression within the raag framework.
They learn two compositions (bandish) in each raag, and practice singing them in the appropriate taal (rhythmic cycle). The course also includes ten short taans (fast melodic phrases) in each raag, helping students develop agility and a deeper command over the melodic form.
