Hindustani Vocals Degree Course (Level 9)

About Course
Hindustani Music – Level 9 | Embrace Dhrupad & Raga Fusion
In this level, students are introduced to the basics of Dhrupad, focusing on the distinct style of taans used in its renditions and how elements of Dhrupad have influenced Khayal gayaki, particularly in the adaptation of Dhrupad bandishes. They also explore the journey of Carnatic ragas into the Hindustani system, with a focus on learning a bandish in Abhogi. The concept of the Vilambit bandish is introduced, along with an understanding of how layakari can be presented using swaras, aakaar, and bols.
Students work on precision with compound taals, developing better rhythm control and the ability to create simple yet creative layakari patterns. This level helps build a strong rhythmic foundation while encouraging exploration across styles and systems.
