Music for Children (Level 6) –12 Weeks

About Course
Music for Children – A Progressive Journey in Indian & Western Music
At Music for Children Level 6, there is an introduction to the musical element of Harmony. This is Me, the song from High School Musical, is taught here, where the students learn 2 melody lines to be sung at the same time. After learning the melodies, they put the 2 melodies together by singing in groups – thus hearing and experiencing the harmony in music. They reinforce their learning of flat 2 and flat 6 notes in the 7-note scale by practicing them in Malankara every week.
Their confidence and self-worth are affirmed to them through the song Firework by Katy Perry. They understand that being Indian is to accept the unity in the diversity of the people here through the Hindi song Hind Desh Ke Nivasi. They soak in the spirit of Holi through some Holi songs that they warm up their vocals on. They continue learning and making thorough how to sight-sing in the 2 flat scale – Bb major. They start exploring melismatic tunes and expressive singing through the songs in this course.
