My Perception of Western Music

Music is all around us and we need it every now and then. It influences our mood, Perception , opinion about things, motivation, etc. I often find myself listening to the same song over and over and considering it my favorite because I associate it with a memory that suits its rhythm.

Today’s youth seem to be more interested in western music than it was before. Listening to and Singing Western vocal songs has a good influence on our English Pronunciation. Young people learning western vocals has increased in the past few years. A few months ago, there were a set of singing competitions held at our school and there were more people giving names for western music vocals competition than ever before. In previous years there were more participants for Carnatic music than western vocals, but as the years passed the popularity of western music has increased rapidly in modern society. Earlier when I used to study music at another place, we were supposed to do by heart many varishas which seemed a bit meaningless to me and I began losing interest in studying music I was six years old at that time so it did not make much sense to me but after some years when I started studying western vocals from the soul of music, I felt like studying music to be able to sing beautifully and not because the fees were being paid. Western music along with western violin has had a great influence on my life. I began to like songs that I did not like earlier and was able to find rhythm in the songs, I thought barely had any rhythm.

Nowadays not a single day passes by without my classmates singing English songs especially the songs Dandelions by Ruth B. Our school music sir could easily identify whether a person is studying western vocals by hearing them sing which says that learning western vocals can transform our voice from ordinary to extraordinary when repeated for long periods of time. Western music along with instruments could help you participate more deeply in music and can help correct pitching, Sight singing and reading notes, Coordination, etc. Western vocal classes have also provided me with techniques and methods to control vocal range and breath support, learning music has proved the fact to me that music is divine
